Fremont, Ohio, June 25, 2018 – Terra State Community College hosted students from Fremont City Schools as part of the “Classrooms to Careers” program the week of June 18.  The program is made possible through a grant from the Ohio Department of Education’s 21st Century Learning Centers.  According to Tony Walker, Fremont City Schools Early College High School Coordinator, the goal of “Classrooms to Careers” is “to show students the connections between what is learned in the classroom and what is actually seen out in the community, whether it be, for example, manufacturing or the service industry.  The program allows students to think about what they need to do educationally to get ready for the program they are interested in.”
At Terra State, students were introduced to career possibilities in 3D animation by creating their own stop motion animation movies.  The theme of their projects is not texting while driving.  They also experience in-depth learning about drone careers, including how to fly a drone, future careers and a visit from the Fremont Police Department Drone Squad.  “By visiting Terra State, students get to see what it is like to take classes on campus,” Walker continued.  “They not only get to see these two areas as a potential career, but also all of the other careers that Terra State has to offer.”
